The first steps to my Audio CD Manager program named Glorybox have been made. I've implemented the JNI interface to calculate the DiscID for the CDDB (also freeDB). For me programming the C/C++ code was really painful.
Yesterday everything looked alright, but today i found out that my calculation only works for regular audio CDs and not for CD-Extra (= Audio CD with Multimedia content for PC/MAC). Damn sh*t! The fix of this Bug will take a long time, since i found out that MCI - the approach that i chose to access the CD-Rom Drive - does not work for CD-Extra CDs. The only way it works is to access the CDDrive via WinASPI. The WinASPI solution will take a lot of work, since many things will have to be implemented manually.
However, the communication to the CDDB works and delivers the right results :-).
I've deceided to defer the solution for the CD-Rom Drive problem, since I'll find someone who will implement the JNI-DLL with WinASPI for me, and then the discID Calculation will work. Right now i head over to do the design of the GUI to figure out the requirements of the application, afterwards i'll design the application itself.
